Complying Development Certificate (also known as CDC) is a fast-tracked construction approval for residential developments. It covers work that meets certain pre-determined development standards set under the State Environmental Planning Policies (Codes SEPP). The principle aim of the Codes SEPP is to remove unnecessary complexity and red tape for home owners.
Complying development applies to residential developments and allows for a range of things like the construction of a new dwelling, alterations and additions to a house, dual occupancies, swimming pools, secondary dwelling and demolition of a building.
An application for a CDC can be lodged with the certifying authority, unlike a DA the certifying authority can be a registered certifier. Construction approvals under the fast-track complying development pathway can be issued in as little as 3 weeks.
